10 posts?!?

I guess I'm just not a blogger. I try. I try to find interesting things to write about, but it's not easy. My New Year's resolution of blogging isn't going too well... Maybe I can write a bunch before the end of the month and make my monthly total look like I actually did some writing. Ha, I guess we'll see.

Birthday Party News...

I know this happened a while back, but I was never really able to write about it. Diamond had a blast at her birthday party... but please... somebody remind me not to ever do that again next year.

The circus was fun. We had 9 kids and each of them wanted the very overpriced junk toys they were selling. Sorry kiddos, if you want a toy, go to Wal-mart. It's much cheaper. I know it probably sounds mean since I am the one who invited them to the circus, but I guess I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I did, however, buy them either cotton candy, popcorn, or a snow cone.

After that, we headed back home and dropped one of the kids off and another could not spend the night. So here I am, trying to entertain 7 second graders. That wasn't bad. We played games and watched a movie. It was getting late and I asked them to turn the lights off. Some of them were getting upset because they all wanted to sleep by Diamond, but um, well, she only has two sides. So there was drama. I asked them very nicely to get along and they tried. But I could still hear them talking. It was finally after 1 am when they all decided to fall asleep... but then... they decide to wake up at 7:30!!! Too early!!! But I got up and cooked them a mini breakfast buffet with waffles, eggs, bacon, and fruit. They had all forgotten about their little episode and were cheery again. They must have just been overtired.

Diamond had a blast though. She loved the slumber party and wants to do it again. I told her we'd think of something else next year... Here are some pictures...

Introductions

My dad has been talking to this man for several months now about a new business starting up. For the first time ever, they decide to meet tonight. This man comes to the the house, rings the doorbell, my dad opens the door, and as the man reaches out to shake my dad's hand he says, "Oh, you're bald too!"

I couldn't help but chuckle a little. Not a "Hello, how are you?" but instead a greeting of the first physical thing they have in common.

So the next time I meed someone for the first time, I think I'm going to say, "Oh, we both have layered hair!"

And 5 minutes later...

Happy 8th Birthday Diamond!!!

I can't wait until you wake up and become all excited about being 8. I can't believe how time just flies. It's been a wonderful 8 years with you in my life.

I was going to bring some cupcakes for her class, but her teacher actually bakes cupcakes for her students for their birthday. So sweet. We'll be having a little party with some of her closest friends then taking them all to the circus. Then the girls will stay for a slumber party. We shall see how this goes. This is going to be her first time having friends stay the night. Wish me luck.

Hope you have a great day baby!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is my dad's ---th birthday. Today we celebrated having our traditional spaghetti noodles (which are supposed to represent LONG life) for lunch and then Texas Roadhouse for dinner. And for his birthday cake, we had the family favorite... German Chocolate Cake. Yummy!!!

Thank you Dad for all your hard work and everything you have done for us. Even though Amazon is a little delayed in sending you the e-mail about your birthday present, I hope that you had a wonderful birthday with many more to come. We love you!!!

Surprise...

...And Ashton Kutcher pops out yelling, "You've been punk'd!" Or at least that's what we were waiting for all day today at work. It felt like one of those days when everyone's goal was to drive the accounting department insane.

Let's ask 106 silly questions and call again and ask to speak to someone different only to hear the same response. Hmmm... Still don't like that one? Let's try a different department. Oh guess what? They think the same thing. Ha ha ha! Just kidding!

I would write down some examples, but I don't think I can... I think for the first time ever, I felt stressed out at work. It's okay though. I know tomorrow will be better.

My future business major

Yesterday, Diamond came up with this great idea of wanting to start her own business. Not 5 or 10 years from now, but today! So she disappeared into her room and later came out with an atache case filled with stuff.

"Mom, I'm going to start a massage business."

She opens up her case and in it is the following (and these are her words):

  • Blanket - to lay on during massages
  • Lotion - to make your back nice and smooth
  • Signs with hours of operations... including holiday hours (She is open from 11 am to 11 pm on regular schedule)
  • A light in case there is no power
  • Appointment book (she had her first client today at 6...and it wasn't me)
  • And prayer beads to pray for good business (she prayed right before giving her first massage)
And here is the best part... She was charging 25 cents for a 5 minute massage and $1 for a 10 minute one. After consulting with her financial advisor, which would be mommy, she changed her prices to $0.50 for 5 minutes and still $1.00 for 10 but now she said she is also accepting tips. We also decided that she may need a timer so she knows exactly how much time passes by. And now she's talking about wanting to charge sales tax!!!

Where do these kids get these ideas from?! Her mind just amazes me sometimes.

Emoticons

You know what would be really cool? If this blog thing had emoticons. I like those things.

Nothing new...

So there is nothing new going on. I'm actually enjoying all this vacation time, well, not for me, but away from all the regular activities that we do. But beginning next week, we'll be back on track with our busy schedule. I'm looking forward to it.

I miss Chapter 1. I feel like I haven't seen anybody these past two weeks. It was nice having our little girl's night the other night and running into people at the mall on New Year's Day. But I still miss Chapter 1. Can't wait until Monday.

I think I'm going to head to bed early on this wonderful Friday evening. It seems I have caught what everyone else and their brother has. It's just lovely...
